Kadak—meaning “strong”—is a bold, high-contrast Devanagari display typeface designed for impactful branding and expressive visual communication. Its striking letterforms balance a disciplined structure with a playful character.

The design began with a simple ambition: to explore high contrast within the Devanagari script. Drawing inspiration from the sharp contrasts of Didot and Bodoni and the bold forms of Futura Extra Bold, DIN Condensed, and Bebas, Kadak brings these influences into a distinct typographic voice.

Initial letterforms were drawn with a flat-nib pen to establish their proportions and contrast. These sketches were then refined in Adobe Illustrator, with careful attention to curves, spacing, and the rhythm between characters. The result is a typeface that feels both structured and spirited, with a strong presence and an unexpected lightness.
