Kadak means “strong”. It started as an experiment in bringing high contrast to Devanagari, drawing on Didot and Bodoni for contrast and on Futura Extra Bold, DIN Condensed and Bebas for weight.
The first letterforms were drawn with a flat-nib pen to set proportion and contrast, then refined in Illustrator for curves, spacing and rhythm. The typeface is in progress.
